The State of Qatar affirmed that the Doha Declaration adopted by the 13th Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice was a historic document and an integrated international road map that had integrated crime prevention and criminal justice into the broader agenda of the United Nations and led the international community's efforts to address transnational organized crime and to build fair, accountability, the consolidation of the rule of law and sustainable development.

H.E. Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of State and H.E. Ambassador Sheikh / Ali Bin Jassem Al Thani, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Austria, met with a number of museum directors and the role of culture and arts in Vienna. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Austria, especially with regard to means of supporting and developing cooperation in various cultural and artistic fields between the two friendly countries.

H.E. Sheikh Ali Bin Jassim Al Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in Vienna, said that extremism in all its aspects and manifestations has become a major challenge to our societies, where young people and children are the most prominent victims.

The State of Qatar hopes that the results of the recent historic summit between the leaders of South Korea and North Korea will open the door for communication between the peoples of the two countries and achieve lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and the world at large.

The State of Qatar stressed that the hopes of the NPT Review Conference of 2020 were to eliminate nuclear weapons completely as the only absolute guarantee against the use or threat of use of such weapons, noting that the Convention on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, approved by the United Nations and adopted by 122 States last year is a positive step in line with the State of Qatar's call for a ban on weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons.

The State of Qatar called for concerted international efforts to promote the United Nations instruments relating to outer space and to adapt them to the great development of space technology and its uses. H.E. Shaikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to United Nations Organizations in Vienna, speaking at the 57th session of the Legal Subcommittee of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, held in Vienna, said that the activities of outer space, as well as the role of such activities in deepening our understanding of the universe and the protection of our planet, stressing the importance of the implementation and use of space activities in the light of legal conventions and the promotion of international space law An external organization which contributes to the process of the use and exploitation of outer space resources optimally.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime held a meeting in Vienna to brief the missions of Member States of the United Nations on the progress made under the World Program for the Implementation of the Doha Declaration of the 13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in Doha in April 2015.

H.E. Sheikh Ali Bin Jassim Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Austria, met with H.E. Reinhold Lopatka, Vice President of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Austrian Federal Parliament. They exchanged views on the bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Austria, especially cooperation relations between the Austrian Parliament and the Shura Council of the State of Qatar.

H.E. Sheikh Ali Bin Jassim Al-Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Organizations in Vienna, in his capacity as representative of the Doha Declaration Global Programme Committee, affirmed the commitment and efforts of the State of Qatar to support international cooperation in achieving peace, stability and prosperity for all humanity. Also, he stressed the importance of investing in education in combating extremism and terrorism, assisting countries in implementing strategies to prevent all forms of cross-border crime, and supporting the implementation of the transformative 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

The State of Qatar stressed that the world drug problem continued to pose a serious threat to human health, security and safety, in a speech to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna, Economic, social and political systems and stability in an increasing number of States, as well as undermining the pillars of sustainable development.
