Executive Director of UN Office on Drugs and Crime Meets Qatar's Permanent Representative in Vienna

HE Executive Director of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna Ghada Wali met today with HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Ambassador Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri. The meeting dealt with reviewing bilateral cooperation between the State of Qatar and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. Her Excellency praised the State of Qatar's vital role in supporting the UN Office in various activities, in addition to tackling terrorism, organized crime, human and drug trafficking.

Austrian Foreign Minister Meets Qatar's Ambassador

HE the Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Alexander Schellenberg met with HE the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Austria and the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri, on the sidelines of a meeting held between the Austrian minister and members of the Arab Ambassadors Council in Vienna. During the meeting, bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries were reviewed.


Prime Minister Sends Written Message to Slovenian Counterpart

HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani sent a written message to HE Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Janez Jansa, pertaining to bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them. Qatar Calls on Israel to Cooperate with IAEA and Open its Reactors to Inspectors

The State of Qatar stressed the importance of Israel cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regarding its nuclear capabilities, and to open its atomic reactors to inspectors. HE Qatar's Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Austria, and its Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri, said in front of the session of the IAEA Board of Governors held in Vienna, during the discussion of Israeli nuclear capabilities item, that the State of Qatar strongly supports the rule of law In international relations, as a basic guarantee for creating a peaceful and stable international environment that enhances opportunities for sustainable development for all peoples, noting that the goal of nuclear disarmament in accordance with international agreements and United Nations resolutions is one of the means to uphold the rule of law in international relations.


Socialist Mayor-Governor of Vienna Affirms Depth of Austrian-Qatari Relations

HE the Socialist Mayor and Governor of Vienna Dr. Michael Ludwig affirmed the depth of the Austrian-Qatari relations, expressing his aspiration to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in science, innovation and digitization, as well as the establishment of smart cities and in the framework of sustainability, green environment, sports and culture. Qatar Affirms Importance of Holding International Conference to Explore Ways to Regulate Cybersecurity in International Law

The State of Qatar has affirmed the importance of convening an international conference to discuss ways to regulate cybersecurity in international law, a call launched by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the podium of the United Nations General Assembly at its seventy-fourth session. In a speech before the 30th session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Ambassador Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri said the State of Qatar is one of the countries most interested in strengthening cybersecurity at the national and international levels. This year, it established the Qatar National Cybersecurity Agency and voted in favor of a UN resolution to draw up a comprehensive international convention against cybercrime.


Qatar Affirms Importance of Empowering Youth to Achieve Sustainable Development

In a statement delivered before a virtual meeting held on the sidelines of the sixty-fourth session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs on empowering the next generation of youth towards sustainable development and prevention of crime and drug use, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Ambassador Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri said young people make up 30 percent of the world's population, one third of whom are currently unemployed, not receiving education or training, or have been displaced from their homes due to conflict, which calls for providing them with opportunities to contribute to the economic, political and civil life of their societies, in a way that qualifies them to become a force to be reckoned with in order to achieve peace and prosperity.


Qatar Affirms Commitment to Continue Cooperation with UNODC

Addressing the sixty-fourth session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri said that the State of Qatar is proud of the impressive successes achieved by the Global Program for the Implementation of the Doha Declaration, including the United Nations Secretary-General 2020 Innovation Award which was presented to the Education for Justice (E4J) initiative, one of the Program's components.

In the context of the activities of the 14th United Nations Conference on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in Kyoto, the Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Dr. Ghada Wali, met with the Qatari delegation participating in the conference, which includes HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri, HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Japan Hassan bin Mohammed Rafi Al Emadi, and HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Nasser Al-Thani, a diplomat in the mission.
