The State of Qatar has affirmed that the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, especially in the areas of health, agriculture, industry and the environment, are a strategic bet and part of its plan for comprehensive economic and social development within the Qatar National Vision 2030, as it has adopted appropriate legislation to enhance the safety and security of radioactive materials and is cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to enhance the Agency's efforts in the field of nuclear security and safety.

HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs' Special Envoy for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution Dr. Mutlaq bin Majed Al Qahtani met with HE Secretary-General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Ambassador Thomas Greminger, on the sidelines of the Regional High-Level Conference held in Vienna in cooperation with the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office (UNOCT) from February 11 to 12, under the title "Foreign Terrorist Fighters: Addressing Current Challenges."

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Austria and its Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri has met with HE Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) Simonetta Di Pippo.

Qatar has continued to provide all necessary support to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and its new Director General HE Rafael Grossi, in order to promote peaceful uses of nuclear energy and non-proliferation.

The State of Qatar stressed Tuesday that regional and international tensions in the world and the irresponsible calls from some parties to launch a new international arms race requires a strengthening of disarmament and non-proliferation efforts, including action to implement the 1995 Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) Review and Extension Conference.

The State of Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime and strengthening criminal justice systems worldwide. This came during a meeting in Vienna between HE Adviser to the Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Follow-up Committee on the Implementation of the Global Program of the Doha Declaration Major General Dr Abdullah Yousuf Al Mal and HE the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Yuri Fedotov.

HE Director-General of the United National Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Li Yong, received the credentials of HE Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri as permanent representative of the State of Qatar to the UNIDO.
