Qatar Affirms Importance of Holding International Conference to Explore Ways to Regulate Cybersecurity in International Law

The State of Qatar has affirmed the importance of convening an international conference to discuss ways to regulate cybersecurity in international law, a call launched by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the podium of the United Nations General Assembly at its seventy-fourth session. In a speech before the 30th session of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Ambassador Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri said the State of Qatar is one of the countries most interested in strengthening cybersecurity at the national and international levels. This year, it established the Qatar National Cybersecurity Agency and voted in favor of a UN resolution to draw up a comprehensive international convention against cybercrime.


Qatar Affirms Importance of Empowering Youth to Achieve Sustainable Development

In a statement delivered before a virtual meeting held on the sidelines of the sixty-fourth session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs on empowering the next generation of youth towards sustainable development and prevention of crime and drug use, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Ambassador Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri said young people make up 30 percent of the world's population, one third of whom are currently unemployed, not receiving education or training, or have been displaced from their homes due to conflict, which calls for providing them with opportunities to contribute to the economic, political and civil life of their societies, in a way that qualifies them to become a force to be reckoned with in order to achieve peace and prosperity.


Qatar Affirms Commitment to Continue Cooperation with UNODC

Addressing the sixty-fourth session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs, HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri said that the State of Qatar is proud of the impressive successes achieved by the Global Program for the Implementation of the Doha Declaration, including the United Nations Secretary-General 2020 Innovation Award which was presented to the Education for Justice (E4J) initiative, one of the Program's components.

Qatar to Launch Global Awareness Campaign on Role of Sport in Achieving Sustainable Development, Justice and Peace

The State of Qatar highlighted the role sports can play in preventing violence among youth, combatting crime and drugs, and establishing peace and creating dialogue among different civilizations, one of the pillars of the Doha Declaration Global Programme which was announced at the conclusion of the 13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in Qatar.


Qatar Calls for Applying Highest Safety Standards to Nuclear Reactors in Middle East Region

The State of Qatar called for applying the highest safety standards to nuclear reactors in the Middle East region, and stressed the importance of strengthening the role of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in achieving the common goals of nuclear proliferation prevention, nuclear disarmament and the promotion of peaceful uses of nuclear energy. This is due to the State of Qatar's belief in the great role that sport plays in protecting youth from crime and drugs, empowering individuals and societies, achieving development and peace, and promoting dialogue between cultures and nations.


Qatar Calls for Confronting World Drug Problem Within Framework of UN Charter and International Law

The State of Qatar underlined that the threat of narcotic drugs to the health and safety of all mankind still exists, in light of its escalating negative repercussions on the social, economic and political stability of countries, the rule of law and sustainable development. This came in the statement of the State of Qatar, delivered by Abdullah bin Nasser Al Fuhaid, the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar and its Permanent Mission to the United Nations and International Organizations in Vienna, during the 63rd session of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), currently in session in Vienna.
