Qatar stresses the importance of cultural diplomacy in building bridges of communication and understanding between the peoples when Dr. Hamad Al-Kuwari and Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani meet with museum directors and opera houses in Vienna
H.E. Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of State and H.E. Ambassador Sheikh / Ali Bin Jassem Al Thani, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Austria, met with a number of museum directors and the role of culture and arts in Vienna. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Austria, especially with regard to means of supporting and developing cooperation in various cultural and artistic fields between the two friendly countries.
H.E. Dr. Hamad Al-Kuwari stressed Qatar's keenness to focus on culture and make it a pillar of diplomatic work and international relations as an important means for the United Nations to achieve understanding, dialogue and communication between peoples.
He pointed out that the manifestations of this diplomacy in education and culture in various aspects and relations between cultural institutions such as universities, institutes of studies, museums, national libraries and the role of music and arts in addition to the exchange of educational missions.
H.E. Sheikh / Ali Bin Jassim Al-Thani stressed the distinguished relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Austria and the efforts of officials in both countries to strengthen the relations in various fields.
In this regard, he noted Qatar's interest and desire to promote cultural relations with the Republic of Austria due to its cultural and artistic heritage. Its capital Vienna is one of the world's most famous cities in the arts, theater, culture, literature and international music.
For their part, museum directors and cultural and artistic centers in Vienna expressed their readiness to organize joint artistic and cultural events with the Qatari side, which will allow them to learn about the various cultural and artistic aspects of both countries. They also expressed their admiration for the designs of Qatari museums including the Museum of Islamic Art and the Qatar Museum, the National Library and other national institutions concerned with culture and heritage, and looking forward to visit Qatar and watch these architectural monuments distinguished.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Dr. Hamad Al Kuwari, H.E. Sheikh / Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, Mrs. Stella Rülig, Director of the Historical Museum of the Belvedere Palace in Vienna, Dr. Klaus Schroeder, Director of the Albertina Museum of Art, Dr. Christoph Hohenstein, and Mr. Dominique Mayer, Director of the Opera House in Vienna.
