Qatari Foreign Minister Participates in Ministerial Meeting of International Syria Support Group

Qatar's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of international support for Syria, which was held today in the Austrian capital, Vienna .

The meeting discussed the latest developments of the Syrian crisis, and ways to push for progress to find a political solution in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and GENEVA 1 Statement, in addition to fixing the cessation of hostilities and concrete steps that can be taken to ensure humanitarian access to all parts of Syria.

During the meeting, HE Foreign Minister noted that the political transition in accordance with the Geneva statement 1 is essential, especially in light of the crimes committed by the regime, stressing that there is no place for the future of the Assad regime in Syria.

HE the Minister reiterated commitment to the Agreement on Cessation of Hostilities, and the need to take clear and strict monitoring measures on violators, stressing the importance of concerted international efforts to speed the delivery of humanitarian aid to all besieged areas, including Aleppo, and the protection of civilians and civilian institutions and hospitals.

The meeting was chaired by US Secretary of State John Kerry , and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, with participation of the Foreign Ministers of Member States in the International Syria Support Group.
